Mohawk House Wedding: Lauren and Jay
Lauren and Jay wanted to get married in a relaxed and informal style, surrounded by nature — and with great food and drinks. Their Mohawk House wedding fit the bill perfectly. Mohawk House is a restaurant and lounge specializing in draft beer, situated in a rambling old stone house near Lake Mohawk in Sparta Township. The owners keep up to 50 small batch draft beers on tap and pair them with seasonal menus featuring locally sourced produce and meats. Yum — like I said, the perfect place for a food- (and beer-) loving-couple’s wedding.
Lauren and Jay started their wedding day with portraits at Lake Mohawk Country Club and in a nearby nature preserve. I especially love Lauren’s wedding dress, with a very unusual and striking fringed bodice, designed by Mara Hoffman. Lauren told us that she first found Mara Hoffman’s work at Anthropologie and fell in love with her style, and that led her to Hoffman’s bridal collection online. Lauren’s dress, called the “Persephone Gown,” had the perfect look for a photo shoot in the woods.
The wedding was just as relaxed, friendly, and delicious as Lauren and Jay had hoped it would be. The last photo of the evening was a snapshot of Lauren and Jay with their good friends Robin and Brendan… whose wedding Kyo will photograph in just a week!
Congratulations, Lauren and Jay, we wish you lots good food, good drink, and laughter in all the years and decades ahead!
