Mercer Oaks Princeton Wedding: Suzannah and Jeff

Suzannah and Jeff are a sweet, intellectual, fun-loving couple who met each other during their sophomore year at Princeton University. Although they now live in California, they decided to get married in Princeton so that they could spend their wedding day in the same place where they first met.

Speaking of how they met, we can’t resist sharing the story with you:

We met during our sophomore year at Princeton. Jeff had seen Suzannah previously (in the Princeton chapel during mass) and found her to be very pretty. Jeff’s roommate, who worked with Suzannah in the student center, revealed this crush to Suzannah (embarrassingly) and set us up to go to Princeton’s annual fall formal together. The rest is history!

In fact, for Suzannah and Jeff, all circles seem to lead back to the Princeton University chapel, because not only is that where they first met and where they got married, it’s also where Jeff proposed to her. He planned an elaborate scavenger hunt all over Princeton — which included “a poem in the style of Suzannah’s favorite poem, The Rape of the Lock by Alexander Pope, that detailed the plan for the day up until dinner” — and ended the evening at the chapel, where he proposed on the exact same spot where he first saw her.

If that’s not romantic, I don’t know what is. 🙂

There were many things we loved about their wedding day event, but two of our favorites were the portrait session break at The Bent Spoon, and the dramatic weather which accompanied the end of their portraits.

The Bent Spoon is an artisanal ice cream shop in Princeton that must be one of the top foodie destinations in New Jersey, serving up handmade ice cream made with locally sourced ingredients. We’ve been wanting to convince a bride and groom to take time out for ice cream ever since we started working in Princeton, and finally, with Suzannah and Jeff, we had a couple who had enough time and enthusiasm for an ice cream snack between portraits and reception. So. Much. Fun!!

And then, as Kyo was wrapping up the portrait session at Mercer Oaks, a summer storm rolled in at this country club, complete with purplish skies, high winds, and big fat drops of rain plopping slowly at first. Suzannah and Jeff were outside on the golf course, enjoying themselves immensely, dancing to an imaginary tune. The combination of an ominous sky and their pluckish attitude made for some of our favorite portraits ever!

We hope you enjoy them too. Congratulations, Suzannah and Jeff!
