Hopewell Engagement Pictures at St. Michael’s Farm Preserve
Kyo photographed Margaret and Brenden’s Hopewell engagement pictures at St. Michael’s Farm Preserve, hundreds of acres of open farmland and woods on the edge of the borough. Although the land is owned by the state and guaranteed as public space in perpetuity, the state leases a large part of it to a farmer so it can continue to be used for grazing cattle, sheep, and chickens on open fields. It was the perfect outdoor space for Margaret and Brenden’s photographs, since they wanted to take their dog Amos on a hike somewhere near where Margaret grew up.
The photo session was held toward the end of October, so the leaves were brilliant orange and gold, and in the afternoon light, everything seemed tinged with a soft, romantic glow. Margaret told us beforehand that she loves Brenden’s “goofy sense of humor,” and true to form he had her giggling several times throughout the afternoon. Then, as Margaret and Brenden relaxed on a stone bench under a maple tree, another dog trotted up and introduced himself to Amos.
The photo shoot ended with Margaret, Brenden, and Amos walking off into the setting afternoon sun. But we’ll revisit them next year when Margaret and Brenden get married at the Cap & Gown Club in Princeton. Alas, Amos may not be in attendance, but we’re glad he got to play a part in their engagement shoot!
