Candlewood Lake Wedding Photos: Kai and Erika
A short time ago, one of our Japanese friends contacted us, to tell us that her brother was getting married and would be spending his honeymoon in the United States. It would be his new bride’s first time in the United States. Our friend asked us, “Could you snap some shots of Kai and Erika’s honeymoon?”
The answer was, “Of course!” A few weeks later Kyo met Kai and Erika on the shores of Candlewood Lake in Connecticut, where Kai’s sister has a lake house. And lo and behold, Erika surprised Kyo by wearing her wedding dress!
It was early April, but the temperature hovered in the 30s and 40s. Kai kept up a steady stream of jokes and hugs, keeping Erika grinning and laughing despite the fact that she was wearing a filmy strapless dress outdoors on a freezing day.
After their “official” Candlewood Lake wedding portraits, Kyo followed Kai and Erika on a little exploration of the surrounding area. This part of Connecticut is so idyllic, they certainly didn’t lack for photogenic spots. First the Sherman playhouse, then the local cemetery, then a red barn on the way out of town. Next, clambering aboard the steam engine at the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association‘s headquarters in Kent, and finally, a stroll through dry fields at the edge of Candlewood Mountain.
Kai and Erika are already back in Japan, but they’ll always have vivid memories of their honeymoon in a pretty little corner of rural Connecticut.
