A Brooklyn Destination Wedding at The William Vale and Bacchus Bistro – Winter Documentary Photography

There’s something beautifully understated about winter weddings in New York—especially when it’s a destination. This couple flew in from Greece for an intimate December celebration that blended modern city views with warm neighborhood vibes. Their day started at The William Vale Hotel in Williamsburg and ended with a cozy dinner party at Bacchus Bistro in Boerum Hill.

Destination Wedding Getting Ready at The William Vale

The William Vale is one of my favorite getting-ready spots for NYC weddings—especially destination weddings. It’s bright, calm, and has those wide windows that fill the room with natural light (even on a cloudy winter morning).

The couple got ready in separate rooms surrounded by close friends who also made the trip from Greece. There was coffee, music, laughter, and those quiet in-between moments that tell the real story of the day.

A Winter Walk Through Williamsburg

Before heading to the ceremony, we took time for portraits in the neighborhood. Even in December, Williamsburg is full of color and texture—brick walls, murals, moody skies. It was cold, but the couple leaned into it with total ease. Their connection and warmth came through in every frame.

Intimate Dinner Wedding at Bacchus Bistro

The reception took place at Bacchus Bistro, a French cuisine restaurant with exposed brick, candlelight, and a backyard that feels like a hidden garden—even in winter. It’s one of those Brooklyn venues that’s low-key and full of charm—ideal for destination weddings where the focus is on connection, not production.

The couple kept it simple and intentional: a short ceremony, heartfelt toasts, and a long dinner surrounded by the people who matter most. These kinds of weddings—where you strip away everything that isn’t essential—always feel the most grounded and honest to photograph.

A Greece-to-NYC Winter Wedding

Choosing to have a destination wedding in Brooklyn—especially in December—might not be the most expected move, but it worked perfectly for this couple. The contrast between a Greek winter and a New York winter gave the whole day a cinematic kind of energy: wind in the hair, coats over wedding outfits, and warm light spilling from restaurant windows into the street.

Real winter wedding timeline:

4-5 pm meet at the William Vale hotel in Williamsburg 111 N 12th St, Brooklyn, NY 11249 (we’ll finish getting ready in the suite, which will also have a wrap around balcony with a view of the city) and couple photos
5-5:30 pm take a car to Bacchus Bistro 409 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217
5:30-6 pm party set up candids with the family at Bacchus (my immediate family will be there helping set up the flowers and a few decorations, and we’d love to have some time with just them)
6-7 cocktail reception in the wine bar
7-9 dinner in the dining room
9-10 party in the wine bar

50 guests.

Many couples choose Bacchus because it feels relaxed and personal.

Instead of moving guests between multiple locations, you can host your ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner in one place. The restaurant’s cozy interior, candlelight, and brick walls create a timeless atmosphere that works especially well for intimate celebrations.

Bacchus is particularly popular with:

• Food-loving couples
• Brooklyn residents
• Destination wedding couples visiting NYC
• Micro weddings
• Restaurant weddings
• Winter weddings
• Couples seeking a less traditional wedding experience
