A little while ago, the Nassau Inn, a historic hotel located right in the middle of Princeton, asked us a styled wedding photo shoot. They wanted to showcase their space in a fresh way. They especially wanted to give brides a vision of how their back patio could be used for an elegant ceremony or cocktail hour. After brainstorming with them and designer Kristin Rockhill, we came up with the idea of a “Madmen wedding.”
The Madmen theme works perfectly for the Nassau Inn. Unlike a big hotel chain, the Nassau Inn is a single, independent hotel with more than two centuries of history. The current building was built in the late 1930s. With its wood paneled upper lobby, classic gold and burgundy ballroom, and nostalgic “Yankee Doodle Tap Room,” it feels like you could be stepping back in time.
Kristin Rockhill took the Madmen idea and ran with it. Working with Angela Nicole Design and Kelly Hogan, she transformed the back patio into a hip and inviting space. They used a variegated wood panel as the backdrop for the ceremony, decorating it with simple greenery and geometric brass artwork.
The models, Devon and Eric, had amazing chemistry together and played their “Madmen” parts to the hilt. Letitia Kakas and Gena Verde Longo from The Capelli Shop gave Devon a lovely 1960s-style updo and smoky eyes, and she wore a series of knockout wedding gowns from BHLDN.
