Fall Family Portrait at Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park Trail in Kingston NJ | Candid Outdoor Photographer

I’ve been to this D & R Canal New Jersey State Park many times for all different portrait sessions. One of reasons for that is I like it so much. I swing by on my way in and out to Princeton just to relax, take a walk, and wondering around. and another reason is my clients agreed with me. I’ve also done many portrait sessions such as weddings and branding sessions in downtown Princeton, Palmer Square and University campus. I like that also, but here is just so much different. Depends on my subject’s preference. I did have some sessions done both locations as well.

Best Time for Fall Family Portraits in Central NJ and NYC

Timing plays a bigger role than most people expect.

In this area:
mid-October through early November is peak fall color
late afternoon into sunset gives the best light
weekdays are quieter and more relaxed

Booking early is important—fall dates tend to fill quickly.
