Cocktails and Cappuccino at The Nomad Library

We often meet our NYC wedding clients in the Herald Square area, because it’s close to Penn Station. But for the longest time we struggled to find a place to meet that we really liked. We wanted to find a quiet, comfortable, stylish, friendly spot where we could have a relaxed conversation and enjoy something good to drink. Unfortunately, Herald Square is not generally known for being quiet, comfortable, or stylish. But then, one of our clients told us about Nomad Library, and our problem was solved!

Nomad Library is a cafe lounge located inside the Nomad Hotel at 28th and Broadway. There’s no sign for it on the street, so you just have to know it’s there (aren’t you glad we’re telling you?). Tucked behind the dark, atmospheric bar at the back of the hotel restaurant, the Library is not a huge space but it feels relaxed. The room is furnished with an eclectic mix of couches, armchairs, and tables, and the walls are lined with books from floor to ceiling. Best of all, the waitstaff is friendly and the drinks are *superb*. Check out the drinks menu — and maybe get some inspiration if you want to design a custom cocktail for your celebration. Seriously, who knows what would happen if you served “Forbidden Dance” (an intoxicating-sounding combination of Genever gin, aquavit, Amontillado sherry, vanilla, velvet falernum, orgeat, pineapple, lime, and nutmeg) to all your wedding guests just as the dancing started?

Unfortunately, we’ve never tried “Forbidden Dance” — we stick to soft cocktails and espresso when we’re having a work meeting. Below is the cappuccino and “Gingered Ale” (which packed an intense ginger punch) we had at the Nomad Library recently.
