Bernards Inn Wedding Photos: Liz and Jacob

We were so excited when Liz and Jacob booked us for their wedding, because Liz grew up in Metuchen, the little New Jersey town where we are based! Because we do so much of our work in New York City, Princeton, and other far-flung locations, we don’t often get to work with brides from our own hometown. So when we do, it’s extra special.

Liz and Jacob met in college and stayed together through graduate school and jobs that brought them out to the Bay Area. When Jacob proposed to Liz, though, it was with her family at home in New Jersey, on Christmas morning.

It was fitting, then, that they held their wedding in the holiday season. It was just a few weeks before Thanksgiving. They decided to celebrate their marriage at the Bernards Inn, because, as Liz told us, they wanted the best food they could find. The Bernards Inn fit the bill — it has one of the best reputations of any restaurants in the central New Jersey area. As the Star-Ledger’s reviewer commented recently,

It’s certainly a challenge for a restaurant to excel, but sometimes a more formidable task involves retaining the luster for a run of continued brilliance. That is what has been happening at the Bernards Inn since executive chef Corey Heyer signed on 11 years ago.

We had so many favorite details from Liz and Jacob’s wedding. The moment Liz’s mom looked at her with that look of love that only a mother can give…. When Liz and her bridesmaids shared a moment of laughter during the portrait session. (And we loved the unusual colors in their bouquets by Robert’s Florals!)…. The bagpiper who surprised their guests at the end of the ceremony…. The magical quality of the setting sunlight during their “golden hour” fall portrait session…. And the enthusiasm and love with which the two of them danced together all through the night (with music by the inimitable Franklin & Alison Orchestra).
