A Westin Princeton Wedding: Katie and Peter
Katie is an opera singer, Peter is a history buff, and the two of them love music. Music was big at their Westin Forrestal Village wedding, with an equally melodious ceremony at Queenship of Mary Catholic Church in Plainsboro. Katie and Peter seemed to soak in every sound, their eyes twinkling, with lots of smiles for each other.
It was a freezing cold November day, but Katie and Peter said “Sure!” when Kyo proposed doing an outdoor portrait session. Just a few minutes from the church is the New Jersey Audubon Plainsboro Preserve, a 1000-acre nature preserve with one of the largest lakes in central New Jersey. Kyo and the wedding party arrived at the Preserve around 4 pm, just as the sun was beginning to sink below the trees, casting long, golden rays of light through the foliage. It was truly golden hour, and Katie and Peter made the most of it, laughing and kissing and watching the ducks and geese enjoy the last hour of daylight.
By 4:45 pm the sun had set, and Katie and Peter headed over to the Westin Forrestal Village, where the cocktail hour was just starting. As you can see from the images, Katie and Peter both enjoy a good drink! They had plenty of time to chat and toast with friends, and then the reception began with a Chinese tea ceremony. Katie exchanged her grey fur stole for a red velvet scarf in a nod to Chinese tradition (red is the color of good luck and happiness in China, and always plays a major role at Chinese weddings).
This was definitely not a wedding with guests too shy to break loose. Au contraire…! While the Franklin & Alison Orchestra belted out their biggest tunes, there were people shimmying and moving and getting groovy all over. Glasses clinked, everyone was singing, and Katie and Peter glowed. In fact, there were quite a few passionate embraces on the dance floor, not just the bride and groom!
