I love proposal sessions. They’re such an adventure—unpredictable in a way that’s totally different from other sessions. I don’t get to know my clients much beforehand. I ask questions, but they’re usually nervous and vague. Honestly, that’s part of the fun.
As soon as they arrive at the spot we planned and he starts to go down on one knee, my heart starts pumping. I lock in completely. At the same time, I have to stay calm so I can do my job properly.
For this proposal, the client texted me when he and his girlfriend (at the time) were coming out of a shop across the street. They walked toward the spot we agreed on. They passed me, he looked back, and I gave him a quiet hi 👋.
They stopped at the spot, but it was a busy, cold day, with snow still on the ground, as you can see in the photos. I was in position, ready—like a speed skater waiting for the starting signal. I didn’t raise my camera yet. What if she turned around? My right arm stayed behind me, camera in hand. Ready for any movement. Fully focused on him.
