Bride and groom in front of 1963 Rolls Royce rental on 5th Ave by Central Park, after their wedding reception in NYC
The first wedding of 2017 was for this awesome couple. When we heard that they had a vintage Rolls Royce rental for their wedding in NYC, we were crossing our fingers that we could squeeze in some time to take photos with it.
It was raining throughout the day. But by the time their 1963 Rolls Royce pulled up to 66th and 5th Ave, the sky was finally clearing up.
They got married at the Lotos Club, an elegant venue less than a block away from Central Park. Because of the logistics of their wedding day, though, they didn’t have time for outdoor portraits until the very end of the evening. What made me happy was that they didn’t hesitate to hang out with me and have a photo session before their after-party, despite the less-than-perfect weather.
And actually, the misty air and wet asphalt actually give the photograph its atmospheric feeling. This is what we often tell our clients: don’t worry about the weather, because you can get great photographs in any type of weather conditions.
So I was thrilled that they agreed to spend some time on the wet city street. I had my assistant crouch behind the car (you can’t see him) and direct one of my lights so there would be a rim effect around the bride and groom, adding a little extra dimension to the portrait.
This photo made my day!
