A lively turnout at “Photographs from Japan” street photography exhibit in Metuchen
Thanks to everybody who attended the opening of Kyo’s street photography show, “Photographs from Japan,” this past Friday, August 13th, at the Rotunda Gallery in Metuchen’s Borough Hall. We had such a wonderful time talking with friends and meeting new people!
Below, four visitors take in two of the photographs in the show.
The photograph in the background of the snapshot above is called “The Potter.” This is a portrait Kyo took of a professional potter, Kobayashi-san, in his studio. Below is the image itself.
On the right in the snapshot above is this photograph, of a sign outside a restaurant in Shigaraki, Japan. The sign says “Yuuge”, which means “evening” or “dinner”.
Here, a visitor takes in the photograph “Nishiki Arcade, Kyoto, grill stand.”
Here, visitors are looking at a slideshow of street photography by Kyo, including images from Obama’s inauguration, the subways in NYC, and everyday scenes from Jaipur, India.
This show would not have been possible without the help of Michael Bransfield, the current director of the Rotunda Gallery, shown on the far left in the snapshot below. Also, kudos to artist Kim Adlerman, third from left below, who exhibited in the Rotunda Gallery just prior to Kyo.
The photograph behind them is called “Bride, Heian Shrine, Kyoto”:
We only have the names of some of the people in the snapshots above and would like to identify everybody, so if you can help us, please send us a note!
If you’d like more information about Kyo’s street photography or would like a price list of the works in the show, please contact Janna at janna [at] kyomorishima [dot] com.
