Prospect House wedding: Shirley and Lewen
The weather gods smiled on Shirley and Lewen’s Prospect House wedding (check out their Princeton wedding portraits in our earlier post). They planned an outdoor ceremony in the Prospect House garden, and since it was August, it could have been gruesomely hot, or plagued with a downpour or thunderclouds. But no — it couldn’t have been a more perfect day. The garden was a riot of colorful flowers and the ceremony commenced just as the sun was dropping below the treeline, glittering through the leaves and tinting everything with a golden glow.
One of my favorite things about Shirley and Lewen’s wedding was how much they incorporated their friends into it. The quartet of musicians who played for the ceremony were all friends, the officiant was a friend, and during the reception they played an uproarious trivia game, demonstrating how well their friends knew them.
Speaking of the officiant at their wedding, I don’t think I’ve ever commented on an officiant’s fashion sense, but I can’t help mentioning how fantastic she looked. She wore a white orchid lei draped over an armless black tank and black slacks. And Shirley looked phenomenal, too, like a 1930s film star in her ultra-simple white sheath dress with a stunning cowl back.
Congratulations, Shirley and Lewen! We wish you years upon years of health, happiness, laughter, and adventure together.
