We love engagement sessions!

They have a totally different feel than wedding day photography — they’re more relaxed, informal, spontaneous, and intimate.

As a matter of fact, having an engagement session is a great way for you to get used to having your pictures taken. Because, let’s be honest, 99% of us don’t love being photographed. The nice thing is, once you’ve hung out with Kyo and been photographed a hundred times, you’ll start to think, “Hey, I actually like this! It’s fun!”

And in the end, not only will you have a fun/silly/rambunctious date, but you’ll end up with a stack of gorgeous, natural portraits of the two of you at a very special time in your lives.

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK WITH US

Setting Up Your Engagement Session

First, you’ll set up the engagement session with us. Janna will discuss with you what you envision for the photo shoot, and we’ll send you a questionnaire where you can tell us all about the two of you, where you live, what you like to do together, and what you’re hoping your photographs will convey. We’ll schedule the photo shoot, send you a contract, and you’ll pay the photo session fee then.

The Photo Shoot!

Next is the photo shoot with Kyo. It’ll be on location wherever you want. You might be wandering Greenwich Village or Dumbo, or going for a hike in the mountains, or picking apples on a farm. Or even hanging out at home, playing games and cooking dinner. Relax, be yourselves, give each other lots of hugs!

At first it might feel strange to be on a date with a photographer following you around, but we promise you it will be lots of fun. As an added bonus, you’ll get used to being photographed, which will help you feel more relaxed on your wedding day.

Receiving Your Photographs

After that, we will edit and color-correct the photos and email you the link to the downloadable online gallery within 21 days. You have unlimited printing rights for personal use, so you can use the pictures for your Save-the-Dates, prints on your walls, or anything else you might want.

Ordering a Guestbook

One of our specialties is a custom-designed wedding guestbook with your favorite photos from the engagement session. Our guestbooks are printed on textured fine art paper (similar to watercolor paper) and bound in Japanese silk. Your guests will love writing special messages to you in the book on your wedding day.

You can order a guestbook at any time. Just choose your favorite pictures in the online gallery, send the link to us, and we’ll design the layout. Once you approve the photo book design, we will send it into production. When it’s ready, we’ll deliver the book to you!
