A Destination Wedding in New York City

Like most photographers, I love destination weddings. A few months ago, I photographed a destination wedding, but it happened to be a destination right next door: New York City. Yoko, the bride, used to live in New York with her family. While she has moved back to Japan, New York is still a special place for her, so that’s where she wanted to get married.

It seemed like it never snowed at all this past winter, but Yoko and Yusuke’s wedding happened to be on one of the very rare snow days. New York City is always magical in the snow. And the bride and the groom were troopers — they wanted to get the most out of their short stay in the city, so we took portraits everywhere from the Waldorf Astoria to the New York Public Library to Rockefeller Center to Times Square, and then all they way up to Riverside Church for their ceremony.

私は海外ウェディングも大好きです。数か月前、私はあるデスティネーションウェディングを撮影しましたが、その場所は意外にも「お隣」のデスティネーションでした。ニューヨークです。花嫁様は、以前ご家族と一緒にニューヨークに住んでおられました。現在は日本にお住まいですが、ニューヨークは彼女にとって今も特別な場所で、だからこそこの街で結婚式を決断されました。

最近冬のニューヨークはほとんど雪が降らなかったのですが、お二人の結婚式の日は、珍しく雪が舞う一日となりました。雪の中のニューヨークは、いつも以上に魔法のような美しさがあります。新郎新婦は本当にタフな方々で、限られた滞在時間を最大限に楽しみたいと、ウォルドーフ・アストリアからニューヨーク公共図書館、ロックフェラー・センター、タイムズスクエアまでフォトツアー的にNYCの街中でポートレート撮影を行い、最後はセレモニーのためにリバーサイド・チャーチまで足を延ばしました。お二人といろいろとお話をさせて頂き楽しいアドベンチャーな撮影をさせて頂きました！
